MyNovant Mobile App
Within the MyNovant mobile application, I designed a new interface for finding a Novant Health facility or location.
REQUIREMENTS
Location Information
Within the location section of the app, the team needed to make sure we accounted for:
Emergency rooms + urgent care facilities
Clinic locations
Services like imaging, labs, and where patients can get a flu shot
Some of the details I needed to make sure we’re available for each location as necessary were:
Name of the clinic/location, address, phone number, and hours of operation
Ability to call directly from search results without having to go through an extra tap and screen load into the location listing
Wait times
Map(s)
Location website
Ability to share location
Easily identify whether the location is open or closed based on time
Favorite a location
Sketches
Once requirements were defined, my team participated collectively in a “design jam.” During this process, we each sketched out ideas and designs for the task at hand.
We then uploaded our documents to a Mural board, talked through our thinking, and then voted on features we found to be optimal.

Search Results
Within the search area, I wanted a user to be able to quickly select multiple location types such as urgent care and emergency rooms. The chips displayed across the screen below the address search bar scroll horizontally and allow for multiple location types to be selected at one time.
Within the listings, a user can immediately see if a location is open and see the urgent care wait times, without having to tap and visit the location profile screen.

Location Profile
Each location profile would display an image of the outside of the facility. Including this could help orient the user when physically looking for the location upon appointment arrival.
Also including a map showing the location of the clinic in relation to other buildings and landmarks helps a local patient easily identify where the clinic is located. This would also open up their default navigation app on tap.
Next Steps
Unfortunately, the team had to pivot away from building out the location feature and focus on more pressing matters including the COVID-19 pandemic.
The next steps in the process would have been to put the prototype in front of users to test and gather feedback. As a designer, I would also like to build out additional filtering systems for clinic types including primary care or specialist care, and the specific service line type like orthopedics and sports medicine, gynecology, and pediatrics. We also needed to build out functionality for viewing and interacting with favorited locations.
